My Journey into PHP
Some advice for people who want to learn HTML, PHP, or similar: Start a self-hosted website. That’s what I’m doing with the Geekify Network and I’m learning a lot! Most of the coding I’ve been doing is for GeekUniverse. I started out with the SMF base and it is almost completely changed by me. I created custom pages, changed the theme, as well as make it more efficient. I’m putting on some finishing touches now so it should be up soon. My next PHP project is to work on Geeklogs, the blog host I’m creating. That will be based off of Wordpress MU, the same script they use at WordPress.com. Well, back to coding…

I also have some other projects going on that I’m sure you’ll love. For example, GeekTweet, a micro-blog service; Geeklogs, a blog host; and most importantly, GeekUniverse the community forums that will link all of this together. Well, I better install WordPress, see you on the other side.
Sphere: Related ContentNintendo vs. Homebrew (The History of Wii Homebrew)
Well… It looks like Nintendo has done it again. They tried to remove homebrew, again. It seems as though all hope is lost, until marcan does some more sniffing and coding. And presto, the new Twilight Hack is out.
For those of you who have no idea what any of this means…
Wii Homebrew (Homebrew are games/apps that are made by individual developers) is one of the most popular tech news topics around now. About 2 years ago marcan and bushing were able to find a glitch in a Wii game. They were able to exploit it, but it wasn’t ready for public use. They then relesed the “Twilight Hack”, a game save which crashed Zelda but allowed the Wii to run homebrew, to the public. A while later, the same group released the Homebrew Channel which allowed you to run homebrew without using the Twilight hack. Nintendo, who doesn’t know the difference between pirating and homebrew, does not like this at all. So, they release an update that removes any game save that takes advantage of the glitch. The next day a new game save is released and everybody’s happy. Then this past week Nintendo repeats this and in 5 days WiiBrewers are happy once more because of another update. But before this DVDX is released letting everyone play DVD videos on their Wii, using the Wii disk drive.
So there you have it, an unofficial history of Wii homebrew. If you are interested in Wii homebrew go to www.wiibrew.org. Let’s hope evil Mario doesn’t try to stop us again!
